I. Training Objectives

This major aims to equip graduates with solid foundation, wide knowledge, strong working ability, collaborative spirit, systematic comprehend of thermodynamics, control technology, computer application technology, while also the practical ability and creativity. Thus graduates are qualified in teaching, researching, engineering, managing etc. of this major. Understandings of basic theory of natural science, humanities, sociology, engineering technology, professional knowledge, practical skills are all desired in graduates. Graduates can be engaged in scientific research, engineering design, technology development, technical and economic management in the field and related fields of energy and power engineering.

 

II. Basic requirements

Graduates of this major mainly study the basic theory of power engineering and engineering thermal physics, theory and technology of energy conversion and efficient utilization, the designing, operating, experimental process of power machinery and thermal equipment. Moreover, a certain degree of basic theory of humanity, sociology, management and related major is also required in graduates. Graduates should be comprehensively developed, master solid basic theory and professional knowledge in science and technology as well as humanistic, economic knowledge. Meanwhile, students also should own the ability of experimenting and engineering design, and are capable of scientific research, product development, engineering design, teaching and business management.

 

III. Knowledge, ability and quality the graduates should acquire

1. Graduates are expected to cultivate good morality and have a solid understanding of common knowledge in humanity and sociology as well as in science, especially mathematics, physics and thermodynamics.

2. Graduates are required to master basic theoretical knowledge in mathematics, physics, material, mechanics, electrics and electronics etc. that is prerequisite to this specific major.

3. Graduates are required to have thorough understanding of subjects that form the cornerstones of Power Engineering and Engineering Thermal Physics, which mainly include engineering thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and heat transfer.

4. Graduates should be proficient in English and have a working knowledge of computer science.

5. Graduates should master knowledge directly related to their majors, such as boiler, turbine, thermal power system and thermal process automation as the main content or cryogenics, refrigeration and automation depending on the specific profession they major in.

6. Graduates should have developed engineering skills that are required to conduct scientific research and technological innovation. Besides, graduates should keep themselves well informed of the state-of-art development in their area.

X. Graduation credit and GPA requirements

According to credit management and bachelor's degree awarded regulations of Southeast University, the minimum 150 credits are required to graduate. Under the condition of graduation requirements, if qualified on Southeast University English Language Learning Standards and Grade Point Average≥ 2.0, a bachelor's degree in engineering can be granted.
