Targeted on cultivating students’ critical thinking and zetetic abilities, seminar courses guide the students to learn by themselves. Teachers value students’ dominant roles, and respect independent roles that each student plays. From the angle of students’ demands and development, the courses motivates the students to take an active participation, think on their own, explore actively, which means a lot in students’ skill learning and lifelong values, instead of considering students as objects to be build. The role of teachers mainly lies in the way to create teaching environments and conditions combining the key thesis of courses. They arouse, guide, help and facilitate the independent thinking and practical innovation by students’ own exploration, research and summary. Eventually, students get to know how to practice and make plans according to own conditions, that is to say, learn to learn and practice on their own. Seminar courses in various types are opened to the whole school or university students, according teaching and learning rules of each course, which can break the old systems and recombine, in order to meet needs of students of different gradations, levels, and interests.

 

Taking advantage of displine resources and qualified teachers, the school accelerates the construction of seminars for undergraduates. Some seminars have opened, such as Introduction theory of energy and environment, New energy resources and new power technology, Refrigeration technique development frontier, and Boiler operation characteristics, etc. The courses facilitate research-based teaching around engineering projects or research topics.
