Nuclear Energy Frontier Technology Forum and Nuclear Major Development Seminar Held by School of Energy and Environment

    The Nuclear Energy Frontier Technology Forum and Nuclear Major Development Seminar of Southeast University was held on the Sipailou Campus of Southeast University on May 8th. Over one hundred people attended the forum, including CAE academician and Model Chief Designer at Nuclear Power Institute of China, Yu Junchong, CAE academician and Model Chief Designer at Northwest Institute of Nuclear Technology, Ouyang Xiaoping, CAE academician and party secretary of China Institute of Atomic Energy, Luo Qi, vice president of Southeast University, Jin Baosheng, the Nuclear Science and Technology Education committee members of the Ministry of Education, experts from brother universities, and teachers and students from SEU Nuclear Science and Technology Department.


    The Nuclear Energy Frontier Technology Forum was held in the morning. Xiao Rui, Dean of School of Energy and Environment introduced the current development of Southeast University School of Energy and Environment to the guests. Five experts including Yu Junchong and Luo Qi delivered fascinating speeches on the frontier development of innovation education, nuclear power and nuclear technology.


    The Southeast University Nuclear Major Development Seminar was held in the afternoon. Department head, Professor Zhou Tao gave a report on the development of the nuclear major at SEU, and the experts had discussions about the current situation. With the advantages and characteristics of SEU’s professional resources and Nanjing’s geographical location in consideration, advices were given in terms of professional goal orientation, curriculum system design, research directions and features.

    The major of Nuclear Engineering and Technology at Southeast University was established with the approval of the Ministry of Education in 2011. The Department of Nuclear Science and Technology of Southeast University was established in 2020 with the support of the School of Energy and Environment. It can be traced back to the Nuclear Engineering Class of Nanjing Institute of Technology in the early 1960s. The purpose of this event was to better promote the development of nuclear energy technology and the nuclear specialty of Southeast University.
